Tradier Brokerage Breach: Is Your Social Security Number in the Lawsuit?

Your Social Security number is at issue only if Tradier Brokerage emailed you that your data sat in vendor Etna Software's system. There is no filed class action to join yet, only lawyer investigations for people who got that notice.

Tradier Brokerage is an online brokerage, and Etna Software supplies its order-management and pre-trade controls for routing and checking trades. Tradier said the Aug. 28, 2026 attack hit Etna, not its own network, according to Edelson Lechtzin via PR Newswire in its investigation notice.

Who is in the affected group?

Only Tradier customers with personal information stored in Etna's system are in the affected group, according to KuCoin reporting on the Tradier notice. That makes the email notice from Tradier the practical test for whether your Social Security number is involved. No notice means you are outside the group described so far. Dapeer Law, summarizing the Texas Attorney General posting, reports 98,844 total affected people, including 9,404 Texans. It lists the breach window as Aug. 28 to Sept.

3, 2026. It lists discovery as Sept. 30, 2026, in its Dapeer Law summary of the Texas filing. California's Attorney General registry also lists Tradier Brokerage Inc. with a breach date of 08/28/2026 and a submission date of 10/27/2026. Edelson Lechtzin via PR Newswire cites at least 9,404 Texas residents and 1,580 Massachusetts residents, showing multi-state impact above 11,000 people.

What personal data was exposed?

The Etna-held data potentially accessed includes full name, address, phone number, Social Security number, and government-issued tax identification number. KuCoin, reporting the Edelson/Tradier notice, lists that exact combination in its KuCoin summary of the Tradier notice.

Only the Etna-held set is at issue, not Tradier's own network data. Tradier said its own network stayed secure during the Etna attack, according to Edelson Lechtzin via PR Newswire. Keep the notice email, because it defines which of your items were in that Etna set.

Is there a lawsuit you can file a claim in?

Dapeer Law and Edelson Lechtzin describe only investigations of potential class claims for notified people. They do not describe a filed lawsuit. An investigation means lawyers are deciding whether to sue, not a settlement with a claim form.

That distinction controls what you can do today. You cannot file a settlement claim because there is no settlement. You can preserve your notice and contact the investigating firms if you want your experience reviewed.

What should notified customers do now?

Tradier began email notification to affected customers. It arranged up to two years of complimentary monitoring through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company, according to Edelson Lechtzin via PR Newswire. Take these three steps in order.

Use your notice email as the reference for each step. Monitoring is complimentary for up to two years for notified customers. Enroll through the instructions in that email and keep the notice for your records.

  • Save the Tradier email notice and note the date you got it.
  • Enroll in the complimentary Cyberscout monitoring using the instructions in that email.
  • Consider a credit freeze to block new credit in your name.
