The Marex Group securities settlement is small — $950,000 in total, estimated at about $0.03 a share before fees — and the $10 minimum payment means many investors who bought Marex (Nasdaq: MRX) shares between November 7, 2024 and August 5, 2025 will need a sizeable position before a claim produces a check. Anyone who does qualify has until January 11, 2027 to file, and the claim needs uploaded brokerage records.
Status: Claims open | Claim deadline January 11, 2027 (online by 11:59 p.m. ET or postmarked) | Exclusions and objections received by January 12, 2027 | Final hearing February 2, 2027
The Short-Seller Report Behind the Case
Marex Group plc is a financial services firm whose ordinary shares trade on Nasdaq. The lawsuit, Shahsavanpour v. Marex Group plc, et al., No. 1:25-cv-08393-SDA in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, was brought under Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act against Marex, its chief executive officer and its chief financial officer.
The plaintiffs allege the company made misleading statements about the “Securities” revenue line in its Market Making segment and a related volume measure. They allege the stock fell about 6.2% on August 5, 2025, after the short-seller NINGI Research published a report. The defendants deny all wrongdoing, and the settlement is not an admission of liability.
Magistrate Judge Stewart D. Aaron granted preliminary approval on September 3, 2026, and notices are now going out.
Who Qualifies
The class is everyone who bought Marex Group plc ordinary shares on Nasdaq or in another domestic U.S. transaction from November 7, 2024 through August 5, 2025. Shares bought on a non-U.S. exchange are outside that definition. The defendants, Marex’s officers and directors during the class period, their immediate families, entities a defendant controls, and anyone who opts out are excluded.
Why Most Payments Will Be Small
Marex will pay $950,000 in cash, and none of it returns to the company. Lead counsel, Schall Brown & Schwartz LLP, will ask for attorneys’ fees of up to one-third of the fund, or $316,666.67, plus up to $75,000 in expenses, which includes up to $2,500 for each lead plaintiff. The notice estimates that leaves about half of the fund for investors. Across all affected shares, it puts the average recovery at about $0.03 a share before fees and expenses.
The plan of allocation works like this:
| Alleged inflation | $2.33 a share for purchases from November 7, 2024 through August 4, 2025 |
| Sold before trading opened on August 5, 2025 | Nothing |
| Sold after that | Recognized loss limited by the sale price |
| Still held at the close on October 31, 2025 | Recognized loss limited by a $33.20 average closing price |
Purchases and sales are matched first in, first out. Claimants who made an overall market gain on Marex stock receive nothing. Everyone else is paid pro rata from the net fund, and no payment is issued if a claimant’s share would be less than $10.
Put plainly: at an average of about three cents a share before fees, a claimant would need hundreds of eligible shares to reach that floor. The exact result for any one investor depends on their own recognized loss and on how many valid claims are filed, so the average is a guide, not a forecast.
What the Claim Form Needs
No notice ID is required, but documentation is. The notice says the parties do not have information about individual transactions, so every claimant must supply it. The online form asks for:
- The brokerage account number and the last four digits of the owner’s Social Security or taxpayer identification number.
- A schedule of every Marex purchase and sale from November 7, 2024 through October 31, 2025.
- Holdings at the start and end of that period.
- Uploaded brokerage records, such as trade confirmations or monthly statements, backing it all up.
Representative and institutional filers must use the administrator’s electronic template rather than the individual form.
Key Dates

| January 12, 2027 | Requests for exclusion and objections must be received. |
| February 2, 2027, 11:00 a.m. | Final approval hearing, Courtroom 11C, Daniel Patrick Moynihan U.S. Courthouse, New York. The court may reschedule it or hold it remotely without further notice. |
Payments go out only after final approval and the review of claims. Opting out keeps your right to sue Marex separately over the same claims but means no share of this fund.
