ALDI Unpaid Shift Settlement: Who Qualifies to File a Claim Form?

You qualify if you were an ALDI store worker in Australia from 27 October 2017 to 23 March 2023 with unpaid entitlements. You also qualify if you were an ALDI warehouse worker in Australia from 27 October 2017 to 30 October 2022 with unpaid entitlements.

The case is Boi v Aldi Foods Pty Ltd. An enterprise agreement is the workplace deal that sets pay rates and benefits. Australia's Federal Court approved the settlement on 23 October 2026 for about 32,300 workers, according to the SDA national release settlement approval announcement.

Do your store dates and role qualify?

Store coverage starts on 27 October 2017 and ends on 23 March 2023. You must have missed pay or benefits owed under your enterprise agreement. Covered roles include store employees, store managers and assistant store managers across Australia.

The SDA SA/NT update lists those store dates and the unpaid-entitlement rule ALDI worker payment update. If all three points fit, you match the store group. Keep your employment dates ready for registration.

  • Employed in Australia as store staff during the date window
  • Owed pay or benefits under the enterprise agreement
  • Current or former staff, including managers and assistants

Do your warehouse dates and role qualify?

Warehouse coverage starts on 27 October 2017 and ends on 30 October 2022. You must have missed pay or benefits owed under your enterprise agreement.

Covered roles include warehouse employees across Australia. The warehouse window closes earlier than the store window. Do not use store dates to judge warehouse work.

What unpaid work counts?

Covered work is unpaid duties before rostered shifts for store and warehouse staff. For store staff, unpaid work after rostered shifts also counts.

The SDA Newcastle case page describes this before-shift and after-shift pattern ALDI class action summary. Only rostered-shift extras in those periods fall inside the deal. Work outside those periods does not create eligibility.

What must former workers do?

Current and former workers are both included. Former workers must complete the formal settlement registration process to be paid. Unregistered former workers are not eligible for their calculated entitlement.

The registration portal was not yet open. Workers did not need to send banking or superannuation details until ALDI and the SDA finalised arrangements. Wait for the formal registration notice. Do not send bank details early.

When will payments arrive?

ALDI must make settlement payments by 31 March 2027, according to Inside Retail Australia ALDI repayment report. About $28.9m was already paid.

About $26.3m is still payable plus interest. No legal costs come out of worker payments. Your share reflects your calculated entitlement after registration.
