The STV pay transparency settlement has an unusual feature: the fund grows with every valid claim above 83, so the per-person amount stays roughly level as more people file. With only 166 people in the class, the settlement website estimates each payment at $1,592.71. Unlike many Washington job posting deals, this one requires a claim form, due by December 8, 2026, and filing online needs the Login ID and PIN from the notice.
Status: Claims open | Claim deadline December 8, 2026 | Opt-out and objection deadline December 8, 2026 | Final approval hearing February 12, 2027
A Fund That Expands as People Claim
Most settlement funds are fixed, so each new claimant shrinks everyone else’s check. STV’s is built differently:
| 83 or fewer valid claims | STV pays a minimum of $281,211.87 |
| Each valid claim above 83 | The net fund grows by $1,611.89 |
| Ceiling | $415,000 total |
| Per-person cap | $5,000 |
Because the fund rises roughly in step with the number of claimants, the per-person amount stays roughly level instead of falling as more people file. Before shares are calculated, the fund pays court-approved attorneys’ fees of up to $122,425, costs of up to $2,500, a service award of up to $10,000 for the plaintiff and administration costs of up to $12,500. Any unused administration money goes to claimants. If fewer than 83 people claim, what is left of the minimum fund goes to the Legal Foundation of Washington, not back to STV. The $1,592.71 is an estimate; actual payments may differ.
Who Is in the Class
The class covers people who, from January 1, 2023 through July 26, 2025, applied through a posting on STV’s website or an authorized third-party recruiting channel that did not disclose a wage scale or salary range, and who either:
- were based in Washington and applied for a remote STV job, or for a job that listed Washington as one of several possible locations; or
- applied from anywhere in the United States for a Washington-based STV job.
That second group means out-of-state applicants can be in the class. STV says there are 166 members, identified from its records, and anyone who received a notice by email or mail was identified that way. Someone who believes they were wrongly left off must raise it with the administrator or class counsel within 60 days of the notice mailing, and STV’s records control unless that person has documentary evidence.
The Case
John Milito v. STV Incorporated, et al., No. 25-2-39405-1 SEA, was filed December 30, 2025 in King County Superior Court. It alleges that STV Incorporated and STV Construction, Inc. posted Washington openings without the wage scale or salary range required by the Equal Pay and Opportunities Act, RCW 49.58.110. STV denies the claims and says it did not violate any law; the court has not decided who is right. Judge Cindi Port preliminarily approved the settlement on August 10, 2026, and notices listing each class member’s estimated payment have gone out.
Filing Your Claim
File on the official STV settlement website with the Login ID and PIN printed on the notice from the administrator, Simpluris. The claim form asks for a signature, address, phone number and email under penalty of perjury. No pay stubs or application records are required, but claims are verified and the administrator may ask for more. The site also explains how to return the paper claim form by mail or email, and anyone who lost their Login ID and PIN can request them from the administrator.
Claims must be submitted online or by email, or postmarked if mailed, by December 8, 2026. Late claims are considered only at STV’s discretion.
Opting Out, Objecting, or Doing Nothing
December 8, 2026 is also the deadline to opt out, by a signed letter sent by mail, and to object, by filing a written objection with the court and mailing copies to class counsel and STV’s counsel. Opting out preserves the right to sue STV separately over these postings. Doing nothing means no payment, and you are still bound by the release.
The Hearing and STV’s Exit Rights
The final approval hearing is February 12, 2027 at 9:00 a.m. in King County Superior Court, with a remote option. One section of the mailed notice lists an earlier hearing time, but the settlement website and the notice’s hearing section both give February 12, 2027.
The agreement lets STV withdraw if more than 10 percent of the class opts out or fewer than 7.5 percent file claims. If the settlement is approved and no appeal is filed, STV funds it within 30 days after it becomes final, and checks are mailed within 14 days after that. Checks expire 180 days after issue, and uncashed money goes to Washington’s unclaimed property program in the class member’s name. The court-approved notice says STV will not retaliate against anyone for participating. OpenClassActions.com tracks this case on its STV job postings settlement page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to file a claim in the STV job postings settlement?
Yes. Only class members who file a valid claim are paid. Claims are due online, by email or postmarked by December 8, 2026, and filing online needs the Login ID and PIN from the notice.
How much is the STV settlement paying each person?
The settlement website estimates $1,592.71 per claimant, with a $5,000 cap. Actual payments depend on the number of valid claims and on the fees and costs the court approves.
Will more claims reduce my STV payment?
Not much. STV pays a minimum of $281,211.87 if 83 or fewer people claim, and the net fund grows by $1,611.89 for each valid claim above 83, up to $415,000, so the per-person amount stays roughly level.
Can I be in the class if I do not live in Washington?
Yes, if you applied from anywhere in the United States for a Washington-based STV job through a posting that did not disclose a wage scale or salary range between January 1, 2023 and July 26, 2025.
When will STV settlement checks go out?
Not before final approval. The hearing is February 12, 2027. If the court approves and no appeal is filed, STV funds the settlement within 30 days after it becomes final and checks are mailed within 14 days after that.
