Westlake Financial Services has agreed to a $1.2 million class action settlement to resolve claims that it charged illegal “pay-to-pay” convenience fees when auto loan customers made payments via ACI Payments, Inc. If you paid convenience fees on your Westlake auto loan between June 2022 and August 2025, you may be eligible for a cash payment. File your claim by May 18, 2026.

The lawsuit, Klare v. Westlake Services, LLC d/b/a Westlake Financial Services, Case No. 2:23-cv-6386 in the Central District of California, alleges that Westlake Financial charged illegal convenience fees when auto loan customers made payments through ACI Payments, Inc. These fees are alleged to violate applicable law when charged for payments made on or after the payment due date.
Who Is Eligible?
All individuals (not businesses) with a retail installment contract assigned to Westlake Financial who paid a convenience fee to ACI Payments, Inc. between June 20, 2022 and August 18, 2025, where the payment was made on or after the due date.
How Much Can You Receive?
The settlement fund of $1.2 million will be distributed equally among all valid claimants after deduction of administrative costs, attorney fees, and service awards. The exact amount per person depends on the total number of valid claims filed. Payment can be received via Westlake account credit, direct deposit, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or other available methods.
