McLaren Health Care Corp. has reached a $14 million class action settlement following two separate ransomware attacks that compromised the personal and medical information of approximately 2.8 million current and former patients. Affected individuals may file a claim by April 29, 2026.

What Happened?

McLaren Health Care suffered two separate ransomware attacks:

  • First breach: July 28 – August 23, 2023
  • Second breach: July 17 – August 3, 2024

Both incidents exposed sensitive patient information including names, Social Security numbers, medical records, health insurance data, and other protected health information. The attacks affected approximately 2.8 million patients across McLaren’s healthcare system.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible if you are a current or former patient of McLaren Health Care whose personal information was compromised in either the 2023 or 2024 data breach. Affected individuals should have received a breach notification letter.

What Benefits Are Available?

Eligible class members may receive:

  • Up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses (must be traceable to the breaches and incurred after July 28, 2023)
  • A pro-rata cash payment (no documentation required)
  • One year of credit monitoring via IDX Identity Protection Services (includes dark web monitoring, $1 million reimbursement insurance, and identity restoration)
