Sprouts Farmers Market Receipt Settlement
Sprouts Farmers Market has agreed to a $5 million class action settlement to resolve allegations that it violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) by printing more than the last five digits of customers’ credit, debit, or EBT card numbers on electronically printed receipts — a practice that could help identity theft. File your claim by August 5, 2026.
What Is This Case About?
Two consolidated class action lawsuits allege that Sprouts Farmers Market violated FACTA (15 U.S.C. §1681c(g)) by printing more than the last five digits of customers’ credit card, debit card, or EBT card numbers on electronically printed receipts. FACTA requires merchants to truncate card numbers on receipts to protect consumers from identity theft. Sprouts denies wrongdoing.
Who Is Eligible?
Customers who used a personal credit card, debit card, or EBT card at any U.S. Sprouts grocery store during the following periods AND received a printed receipt showing more than 5 card digits:
- Credit/debit card purchases: August 16, 2020 through October 31, 2022
- EBT card purchases: March 15, 2021 through April 15, 2023
How Much Can You Receive?
Pro rata cash payment from the $5 million net settlement fund. The final per-person amount depends on the total number of valid claims filed. Sprouts is also required to implement a written policy ensuring future receipts show no more than the last 5 digits of card numbers.
