What Is This Case About?

The lawsuit alleges that Northwell Health embedded tracking technologies on its public website and patient portal that collected and transmitted sensitive patient information — including health conditions searched, appointments booked, and portal activity — to third-party advertising platforms like Meta (Facebook) and Google without patients’ knowledge or consent.

Who Is Eligible?

There are two eligible subclasses:

  • Subclass 1: Northwell patients who logged into the FollowMyHealth patient portal OR booked an appointment on Northwell’s website between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023
  • Subclass 2: Northwell patients between January 1, 2020 and July 25, 2024 who are not in Subclass 1

What Benefits Are Available?

  • Subclass 1: $15 cash payment plus a 12-month CyEx Privacy Shield Pro subscription
  • Subclass 2: 12-month CyEx Privacy Shield Pro subscription (no cash payment)
