Star214 And Statebridge Interest Fee Class Action Settlement — Claim Deadline April 7, 2026

Star214 And Statebridge Interest Fee Settlement

Star214 LLC and Statebridge Co. LLC, a mortgage servicer, have reached a class action settlement (Brown et al. v. Star 214) over allegations that they violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by misleading borrowers about interest and fees on second-mortgage loans. Payments are distributed automatically — no claim form is needed. The opt-out deadline is April 7, 2026.

What Is This Case About?

The lawsuit alleges that Star214 and Statebridge misled borrowers into believing they owed interest and fees on junior-lien (second-mortgage) loans without sending required monthly statements. Plaintiffs claim the defendants misrepresented outstanding balances during charge-off periods, violating federal debt collection laws designed to protect consumers from deceptive practices.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible if you had a junior-lien mortgage on your primary residence that was serviced by Statebridge, was more than 30 days past due as of May 14, 2025, and you received correspondence between November 2, 2023 and May 14, 2025 reflecting fees or interest during charge-off periods.

How Much Can You Receive?

The settlement includes a $150,000 statutory damages fund distributed automatically to eligible class members, with an estimated payment of approximately $172 per person. Attorneys’ fees of up to $900,000 are paid separately by the defendants. No claim form is required — if you are eligible and do not opt out, you will receive payment automatically.
