If you drove for Uber or Lyft in Massachusetts between July 14, 2020, and July 2, 2024 you may be owed a payout from a massive new class action settlement. Uber and Lyft, the popular taxi ride-sharing companies, have settled a class action lawsuit over allegations that they misclassified drivers as independent contractors, resulting in underpayment of wages to drivers. The settlement, which totals $140 million, is part of an agreement with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and the two companies. The settlement aims to compensate drivers for expenses incurred while driving for Uber and Lyft, including vehicle maintenance, fuel costs, and other related expenses.
What is the Total Settlement Amount?
The Uber and Lyft class action settlement provides at least $140 million to eligible drivers.
How Do I Qualify for a Payout?
You may qualify if you are a driver who completed trips for Uber or Lyft in Massachusetts between July 14, 2020, and July 2, 2024, and meet eligibility criteria (such as driving more than casually or earning less than minimum wage after expenses).
